Day two in San Diego was another good one: I went searching for something quick, easy, and close to the convention center.
Restaurant: La Puerta
Location: 560 4th Ave, San Diego, CA
Review: Solid 4 out of 5 stars. I didn’t get quick and easy, but I definitely got close (-ish), tasty, and gluten-free. La Puerta doesn’t have a dedicated gluten-free menu, but the server was knowledgeable about the gluten-free menu options and offered to check with her manager to make sure things really were okay.
I ordered a plate of three tacos (carne asada, veggie, and the “pastor”, an adobo-marinated pork); they came with beans and rice and veggies in some kind of creamy sauce. I passed on the tortilla chips – I was told they were fried in the same fry oil as some battered menu items – but didn’t need them! This plate was plenty:
I would definitely come back here again, and may tomorrow! Unless the mission wins out…
